Dit artikel gaat over één van de felste vraagstukken in het huidige integriteitsdebat: de morele agenda van woke. Juristen – en advocaten in het bijzonder – worden, vooral vanuit de universiteit, in toenemende mate aangespoord om zich in te zetten voor social justice. Maar wat houdt die aansporing in? En over wiens rechtvaardigheid hebben we het hier? In dit stuk verkennen de auteurs de impact van woke op de advocatuur. Daarbij laten zij zich leiden door de vragen wat nu kind is, en wat nu badwater. De insteek van woke – alertheid op sociale onrechtvaardigheid – is immers, zeker op het eerste gezicht, zeer prijzenswaardig, maar brengt ook nieuwe dilemma's met zich. Na een korte verkenning gaan de auteurs in op de (theoretische) achtergrond van woke. En op de vraag hoe de motieven van woke zich verhouden tot de rechtsstatelijke rol van de advocaat. In dit alles bedoelt dit stuk vooral een aanzet te geven tot verdere discussie.
