Al igual que ocurre en otras localidades del Campo de Montiel, la festividad de los mayos tiene una arraigada tradición en Alhambra. La celebración se desarrolla a lo largo de dos jornadas, el 30 de abril y el 2 de mayo, y muestra dos aspectos distintos de la fiesta. Durante la noche del 30 de abril, conocida como la noche de los mayos, los jóvenes solteros escriben pequeñas rimas en las fachadas de las casas de las jóvenes, las cuales se conservan siempre y cuando no resulten ofensivas. El 2 de mayo se celebraba el día de las cruces, donde se realizaban visitaban las cruces ornamentadas que se encontraban en el interior de las casas familiares. Esta festividad experimentó un gran declive después de las migraciones masivas de las décadas de 1950 y 1960, que provocaron la partida de más de la mitad de la población. De los 3447 habitantes en 1950, la cifra descendió a 1864 en 1970. A pesar de varios intentos fallidos de recuperación durante las décadas de los 80 y 90, no se ha logrado restituir la tradicional fiesta del día 2 de mayo, perdiendo los cantos asociados. Asimismo, los últimos vestigios musicales se conservan en el Fondo de Música Tradicional de la Institució Milà i Fontanals (CSIC), lo que permite establecer similitudes con otras manifestaciones musicales de localidades del Campo de Montiel.
