Abstract
La transition vers les études postsecondaires représente un processus ponctué de changements significatifs nécessitant des mesures de soutien adaptées aux besoins des personnes étudiantes. Cependant, ces mesures restent parfois peu utilisées. Cet article explore les motivations des personnes étudiantes à y recourir à travers la théorie de l’autodétermination (Deci et Ryan, 1985, 2002). Une analyse qualitative, basée sur des entrevues individuelles et de groupe menées auprès de 199 personnes étudiantes en transition collégiale ou universitaire, révèle qu’elles sont plus enclines à utiliser une mesure lorsqu’elle soutient leur besoin d’appartenance sociale. À l’inverse, des freins tels que le manque de compréhension de l’utilité de la mesure ou certaines contraintes organisationnelles nuisent à leur motivation à utiliser ces mesures. Les résultats rappellent l’importance d’adapter la promotion et les mesures de soutien pour mieux répondre aux besoins des personnes étudiantes qui vivent une transition postsecondaire.
