Abstract
L’article se propose d’examiner la manière dont les scholies à Pindare, texte a priori subalterne et second par rapport au texte qu’elles commentent, par-delà des commentaires techniques ou informatifs, sont sensibles à une littérarité spécifique à la poésie pindarique. De ce dialogue entre texte et commentaire ou paraphrase, comme entre poésie et prose, surgissent les éléments d’une critique qui, dans sa multiplicité, dégage peu à peu des éléments qui permettent de saisir en partie l’émergence d’une critique « littéraire », en ce sens qu’au-delà du commentaire elle s’efforce d’exprimer une singularité du texte pindarique dans sa poésie même. L’article s’appuie pour l’essentiel sur les scholies à la troisième Olympique pour analyser dans le détail la manière dont les scholiastes, par l’emploi de divers termes ou la description de divers procédés, identifient et décrivent la spécificité du langage poétique.
