La pandemia de la covid-19 reveló y agravó las desigualdades existentes para la población migrante haitiana y sus descendientes que son apátridas en la República Dominicana. Una dimensión importante de la desigualdad social sigue siendo el acceso a documentación de identidad, por su importancia para acceder a los servicios de salud y programas de protección social. Este artículo presenta los hallazgos de un estudio sobre los impactos de la covid-19 en esta población en la zona sur de la franja fronteriza de República Dominicana con Haití. La investigación se enfoca en los impactos en cuanto a la incidencia de la enfermedad y acceso a los servicios de salud, acceso a la vacunación, impacto económico, acceso a la educación, programas de protección social, retornos voluntarios e involuntarios a Haití, transnacionalismo, así como los mismos procesos de solicitud y renovación de documentación. Demuestra además el papel crucial de la sociedad civil en suplir las necesidades de la población, a la vez que se redujo el espacio para su diálogo e incidencia política ante el gobierno.
