Abstract
Ce texte propose une analyse du film Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse (2000) d’Agnès Varda à la lumière de la question : que faut-il pour vivre ? Dans un premier temps, l’auteur propose un survol biographique afin de mettre en relief les éléments structurants de la production de Varda, à savoir, une pensée singulière se déployant par la construction d’images (physiques et mentales), l’histoire de l’art comme dispositif de création et la primauté de la narrativité. Dans un deuxième temps, l’auteur inscrit Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse dans le contexte de la crise de la représentation des années 1990, ce qui permet de mieux saisir le sens historique de l’intervention de Varda ainsi que son pouvoir d’évocation. En reliant ainsi les thèmes de la survivance et de la créativité à la vie que portent les images (entendues comme « sujets »), le texte se termine en mobilisant la théorie de l’image de Gérard Wajcman telle qu’esquissée dans l’ouvrage Fenêtre (2004). Dans cette perspective, le film de Varda se veut un dispositif de figurabilité nouant intimité et socialité et appelant les spectatrices et spectateurs qui y prennent part à prolonger la vie des images.
