Abstract
La question du double constitue un angle original pour éclairer les souffrances qui touchent à l’intime et à la question de l’être psychique. Son émergence sur la scène clinique, énigmatique, parfois troublante, nous conduit à interroger son rôle et sa fonction dans l’économie psychique du sujet mais également dans les liens qui l’unissent à son environnement. Après un bref historique de la question dans la littérature psychanalytique, il s’agira de montrer comment le double se construit dès le plus jeune âge dans la relation à l’environnement en contribuant de façon essentielle à la construction de la subjectivité. Ainsi, si les formes transférentielles du double en thérapie témoignent d’une souffrance narcissique-identitaire à l’oeuvre, elle apparaît en seconde lecture comme un levier thérapeutique précieux pour mettre au travail les impasses subjectives auxquelles s’est retrouvé confronté le sujet dans son histoire.
