Cette contribution explore le rôle de l’éthique en éducation d’un point de vue postcritique, en utilisant la peinture Le Jugement dernier de Rogier van der Weyden comme thème central. Elle oppose les lectures critique et postcritique de l’oeuvre, plaidant pour cette dernière afin de révéler son potentiel éthique et éducatif. L’analyse suggère que l’éducation, intrinsèquement normative, ne doit pas impliquer un jugement final, mais plutôt favoriser un processus de transformation. L’approche postcritique met l’accent sur la confiance dans la valeur éducative des artefacts culturels, allant au-delà de la démystification perpétuelle. Inspirée par le travail de Klaus Mollenhauer, l’étude utilise des artefacts culturels pour proposer de nouvelles idées éducatives. La représentation des figures humaines résistant à la pesanteur dans la peinture symbolise la lutte entre la grâce et la pesanteur, reflétant les concepts de Simone Weil. En fin de compte, le texte plaide pour une normativité éducative immanente qui favorise la transformation de soi et résiste aux identités fixes, offrant une voie significative distincte de l’éducation traditionnelle basée sur le jugement.
