Abstract
Les parents des enfants confiés aux services de Protection de l’enfance présentent une problématique d’incompétence parentale, souvent associée à une problématique d’incapacité parentale, momentanée ou chronique, partielle ou totale. L’incapacité parentale procède de troubles psychiques personnels ou de maladies psychiatriques qui entravent l’acquisition ou la mobilisation des capacités et ressources psychiques fortement mises à l’épreuve en situation de responsabilité parentale. L’efficience de ces capacités est pourtant indispensable pour pouvoir répondre adéquatement aux besoins fondamentaux de l’enfant et garantir ainsi sa santé mentale ainsi que son développement psycho-affectif, cognitif et social sans négligence et sans maltraitance. Différencier les problématiques d’incompétence et d’incapacité dans l’évaluation des situations de dysparentalité en protection de l’enfance permet d’adapter les projets de vie pour les enfants, les objectifs de soins et d’assistance aux familles, en protégeant le développement de l’enfant. Fondé sur une approche psychodynamique, cet article propose des pistes de compréhension des différents types de dysparentalité.
