Abstract
Cet article décrit l’expérience acquise par notre équipe de recherche rattachée à l’Université McGill, en médecine corps-esprit, dans l’accompagnement des aînés et de personnes souffrant de maladie rénale chronique traitées par hémodialyse. Il s’agit d’une revue des études pilotes de faisabilité de méditation en pleine conscience, de thérapie cognitive basée sur la pleine conscience, tai-chi et yoga, effectuées à Montréal (Québec, Canada) par notre groupe auprès de populations gériatriques souffrant de d’anxiété et dépression ou auprès de personnes hémodialysées. Certaines de ces études ont utilisé des innovations technologiques, telles que la visio-conférence, la télésanté et la réalité virtuelle avec des résultats prometteurs. De nouveaux programmes de méditation en pleine conscience ou d’exercice physique basés sur la réalité virtuelle sont en cours d’élaboration pour la prise en charge de la douleur chronique et du handicap fonctionnel en gériatrie et en hémodialyse.
