Neste ensaio, realiza-se uma crítica ao conceito antropológico neoliberal subjacente às recentes proposições de reformas do Ensino Médio, na medida em que essas suposições inibem o desenvolvimento de um modo de vida democrático e acarretam a morte de um homem público. O artigo se encontra organizado em três seções. Na primeira, analisam-se as obras basilares de autores neoliberais, a fim de identificar o conceito antropológico presente nessa razão-mundo (Dardot; Laval, 2016). Posteriormente, discute-se sobre a interseção existente entre os pressupostos antropológicos neoliberais e alguns tópicos contemplados nas propostas de reforma do Novo Ensino Médio. Identifica-se, por meio desta análise, que, sob conceitos caros ao pensamento pedagógico ou expressões e termos socialmente valorizados, ocultam-se propostas educacionais ancoradas em pressupostos de hipertrofização dos indivíduos e monetização das subjetividades. Por fim, justifica-se a crítica aos preceitos antropológicos subjacentes às proposições reformistas, indicando que esses, ao fomentar a liberdade negativa e a lógica concorrencial, podem desencadear a morte de um homem público
