Abstract
In accordance with the advice provided by the HEA, the work in Area 1 involved the excavation of trial trenches in order to evaluate the archaeological potential of the site. This approach was intended to characterise the complete stratigraphic sequence while minimising unnecessary destruction of the archaeological resource. The work in Area 2 was intended to monitor the clearance of the adjacent amenity area, where it was believed to cross the line of the town ditch. Following a change of plan by the client, part of the amenity area was set aside to house a below-ground attenuation tank and its associated drainage pipes. Accordingly, the footprint of the tank and the line of the pipe trenches were opened up under direct archaeological supervision in order to assess the likely impact of the works on the archaeological resource and provide appropriate mitigation measures. In response to an archaeological condition attached to two separate planning consents for the development of land to the north of Bansons Lane, Chipping Ongar, Essex, the Heritage Network was commissioned to undertake a programme of archaeological investigation. The works comprised the opening of two trial trenches across Area 1, followed, some time later, by the controlled excavation of the site of an attenuation tank and its inlet and outlet pipes in Area 2. It was considered that the present investigations had the potential to contribute to a greater understanding of the origins and development of Chipping Ongar from the prehistoric period onwards, with a particular focus on the development and decline of the medieval town ditch. Despite the defined potential, no features, deposits or finds of archaeological significance were encountered in either Area 1 or Area 2.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
