Abstract
After a long period of silence, the reopening of Africa for Türkiye began in the late 1990s, when the Action Plan (Afrika Eylem Planı) was adopted with the assistance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs İsmail Cem, which promoted Türkiye's inclusion in the struggle for a place under the African sun. The core idea behind this initiative was the need to develop trade and economic relations with African countries in order to open new markets for Turkish companies. Despite this, the practical realization of the “New Turkish Vision” for Africa commenced only in 2002 after the Justice and Development Party came to power under the leadership of R.T. Erdogan. This process was also influenced by the gradual decline of the idea of the country's European integration future, and Ankara sought to build a more independent policy in different regions of the world, including Africa.
