El 7 de Noviembre de 2002 comenzo a producir el campo de Ourhoud, en el desierto argelino, en el que Cepsa tiene un 40% de participacion. Ourhoud es el segundo mayor campo de petroleo de Argelia, con una produccion nominal diaria maxima de 253.000 barriles, un volumen de reservas de un millardo de barriles de crudo y una inversion total de 1.600 millones de US$. La produccion acumulada es de 140 millones de barriles. En el presente articulo se resume la experiencia acumulada de la vida del campo y se presentan los retos futuros y las potenciales vias de incremento de reservas que se puedan extraer. 1. Introduccion El campo de Ourhoud fue descubierto en 1994, delineado durante el periodo 1994-1996 y desarrollado a partir de 1997 cuando se crea el Grupo de empresas que opera conjuntamente el campo. Los dos socios principales son Cepsa con un 40% y Sonatrach, compania nacional argelina, con un 37%. El resto de las participaciones se reparte entre las companias Anadarko (EEUU), Maersk (Dinamarca), ENI (Italia), Burlington (EEUU) y Talisman (Canada).(1) El campo de Ourhoud ha producido ya mas de 140 millones de barriles de crudo tras dos anos de produccion, lo que representa aproximadamente el 15% de las reservas totales del campo. Tiene una extension de 125 km2 y se encuentra en la cuenca de Berkine, en el sureste argelino (Fig. 1).
