Abstract
Le présent article vise à mettre en lumière la contribution que l’étude de la traduction dans les contextes minorisés peut apporter à la méthodologie de la recherche en traductologie. En analysant des exemples tirés de l’histoire de la traduction basque, l’article montre que la traduction dans ce type de système marginal n’est souvent qu’un autre moyen de réécriture, qui ne diffère guère d’autres procédés littéraires tels que l’adaptation ou la transformation. Une méthodologie de recherche pouvant servir à expliquer tous ces phénomènes de traduction devrait donc surmonter la définition trop restreinte tenue par le discours traditionnel de la traduction, et adopter une perspective interdisciplinaire permettant d’élargir la définition de la traduction. Dans ce sens, les théories postcoloniales ainsi que d’autres approches issues du « power turn » en traductologie offrent d’excellents outils pour l’étude de la traduction dans les systèmes littéraires minorisés en général et dans le contexte basque en particulier.
