ste volume reune a contribuicao de docentes de instituicoes de ensino superior de enfermagem daAmerica Latina que, com o apoio da CICAD, deslocaram-se para o Canada, especificamente a Universidade deAlberta-Faculty of Nursing, com o objetivo de capacitacao em pesquisa no tema drogas licitas e ilicitas, e debuscar parcerias entre si e com os professores daquela instituicao visando o desenvolvimento de projetosconjuntos.A Faculdade de Enfermagem da Universidade de Alberta participou do Projeto de Escolas de Enfermagemdesenvolvido pela CICAD/OEA como instituicao colaboradora e recebeu em 2003 onze pesquisadores latino-americanos para o I Programa Internacional de Capacitacao em Pesquisa para Enfermeiros no Estudo doFenomeno das Drogas. Como um centro de excelencia em pesquisa, a Faculdade de Enfermagem da Universidadede Alberta recebeu professores de Escolas de Enfermagem do Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Equador, Mexico e Perupara um programa inovador de tres meses focado no desenvolvimento de pesquisadores e lideres deenfermagem.Os artigos resultantes dessa iniciativa mostram, em diversos graus, o avanco nessas parcerias eevidenciam a mulher como sujeito prioritario das investigacoes. Tal prioridade tem fundamento em dadosdemograficos de estudos realizados no âmbito mundial
