En 1998 deux politiques en éthique de la recherche étaient implantées au Canada modifiant ainsi le paysage de cette éthique. Au niveau fédéral, c’est la politique des trois conseils qui subventionnent la recherche au Canada ; et au Québec, c’est un plan d’action ministériel sur l’éthique et l’intégrité de la recherche. Quels changements ces politiques apportent-elles à la manière de considérer les fonctions d’un comité éthique de la recherche ? La présente analyse cherche à comprendre les rationalités éthiques véhiculées dans les politiques de la recherche notamment par le biais de l’évaluation éthique des protocoles. Or, depuis Nuremberg, où naît le principe de l’évaluation éthique de la recherche, il est possible de déceler trois rationalités éthiques différentes qui apparaissent au cours de l’histoire, dans un contexte des logiques sociales, mais qui sont encore omniprésentes dans les évaluations : l’évaluation morale, la protection des droits et la saine gestion. Il est important, devant les défis de la technoscience, de s’interroger sur la portée éthique de nos dispositifs afin d’en cerner les forces et les limites.
