Réaliser un doctorat n’est pas seulement élaborer durant trois ans une étude, puis soumettre au jury un « manuscrit de thèse ». Faire un doctorat c’est aussi aller à la rencontre de soi-même, de ses doutes et de ses convictions, de ses connaissances et de ses compétences. Concrétiser un doctorat c’est accepter de réaliser un parcours initiatique avec des épreuves qui interpellent quant à ses aptitudes à savoir se dépasser en termes de réflexion et d’implication personnelle. Par crainte d’une ou autre de ces épreuves, certains sont tentés ne pas s’y confronter en s’appropriant le travail d’autrui et de le faire passer pour leur. C’est ainsi, « chemin faisant », que le doctorant surmonte une à une ces épreuves et s’ancre dans une solide posture intègre, en pleine conscience des ressources de sa morale, de sa déontologie et de son éthique. En toute fin, il pourra alors être dit à son propos qu’il a contribué de manière significative à l’avancement de la connaissance dans sa discipline et sur son sujet de thèse.
