Au cours des dernières années, les algorithmes prédictifs ont fait la manchette en raison de leur caractère potentiellement discriminatoire. Ce qui représente, ou non, de la discrimination algorithmique et les différentes méthodes de correction sont devenues le centre d'attention de plusieurs chercheurs universitaires. L'objectif de cet article est de faire le lien entre différentes perspectives disciplinaires sur l'équité algorithmique et de mettre le tout en lien avec les notions de statistique, dans une tentative de faire ressortir le rôle du statisticien sur la question. La recherche s'appuie sur une revue de littérature narrative qui permet, entre autres, de mettre en évidence l'impossibilité d'automatiser l'équité, la nécessité d'une compréhension approfondie des modèles, du domaine d'application et des enjeux éthiques pour une prise de décision éclairée quant à la conception et l'élaboration de ce type de modèle. L'analyse de la littérature permet aussi d'émettre un certain nombre de recommandations pour le praticien et pour les chercheurs en équité algorithmique.
