Cet article vise à soutenir les personnes chercheuses-développeuses au regard des tensions vécues dans le caractère participatif de la méthodologie de recherche-développement (RD). À partir d’une recension d’écrits initiale comprenant 121 références sur des approches qualitatives interprétatives ou participatives (B-Lamoureux, Bergeron et Rousseau, 2023), 28 écrits en lien avec le caractère participatif ont été dégagé et analysés par questionnement analytique (Paillé et Mucchielli, 2021). L’analyse a identifié quatre zones sensibles susceptibles de générer des tensions en RD, pour lesquelles dix précautions et des moyens concrets sont proposées. Par exemple, les tensions théorie-pratique et la considération équitable des avis entre les parties prenantes et les connaissances issues des recherches peuvent être atténuées par l’engagement dans un processus entrecroisé alliant tous ces points de vue. Dans le contexte du processus itératif et interrelié des activités de la RD, ces résultats apparaissent pertinents pour composer avec les tensions de la dynamique collaborative.
