Na grande área de saúde, um número significativo de periódicos adota o estilo Vancouver ou normas de Vancouver como padrão de normalização para submissão de artigos. Com o intuito de facilitar a compreensão e uso das regras que compõem esse estilo, por parte de estudantes e pesquisadores que pretendam submeter seus trabalhos aos periódicos da área de saúde, este e-book vem colaborar com exemplos de referências e citações baseadas no Citing Medicine: The NLM style Guide for Authors, Editors and Publishers, e nas recomendações do International Committee of Medical Journals Editors (ICMJE), duas obras que estão nos fundamentos do estilo Vancouver. A construção do presente e-book foi motivada a partir da vivência das autoras (bibliotecárias lotadas na Seção de Atendimento ao Usuário da Biblioteca de Ciências da Saúde da UFC) com a normalização bibliográfica. As mesmas perceberam a necessidade de disponibilizar um material para orientar o público que elas atendem, predominantemente estudantes e pesquisadores em ciências da saúde, no uso do estilo Vancouver. Ao leitor em potencial desta obra aconselha-se que, ao submeter seu trabalho para um periódico científico que adote o estilo Vancouver como padrão de normalização, esteja atento às possíveis adaptações e convenções que estão estabelecidas nas diretrizes do próprio periódico, haja vista que o estilo Vancouver pode conter algumas variações entre os periódicos da área. Desta forma, deve-se consultar o site de cada revista no que se refere às diretrizes para os autores e seguir as recomendações contidas para a submissão.
