Tous les universitaires connaissent cette antienne : pour être un chercheur ou une chercheuse accomplie, il faut être « internationalisée ». Dans les universités et les organismes de recherche, plusieurs services\net programmes promeuvent cette internationalisation, à laquelle les procédures d’évaluation accordent une place croissante, sans pour autant en donner une définition consensuelle. Faut-il donner la priorité aux circulations des individus entre pays, aux recherches sur des « cas » étrangers, ou encore aux publications dans des supports internationaux? Mais cette internationalisation ne tend-elle pas à renforcer l’hégémonie des recherches anglo-américaines – l’anglais devenant la lingua franca scientifique – au risque de délaisser l’étude de nos propres sociétés et de restreindre les échanges, pourtant de plus en plus encouragés,\navec les acteurs et actrices non académiques ? Ce court texte propose d’éclairer quelques-uns de ces\nenjeux à partir d’une expérience personnelle d’internationalisation, encore peu fréquente dans les sciences\nsociales françaises : née et formée en France (jusqu’à un doctorat obtenu en 2008 à l’École normale supérieure et à l’École des hautes études en sciences sociales), j’ai été pendant quatre ans professeure adjointe au département de science politique de l’université Laval, dans la ville de Québec, au Canada. En 2014, je suis revenue en France en tant que maîtresse de conférences à l’université Rennes 2 tout en continuant à mener des recherches et à encadrer des doctorants outre-Atlantique.
