Abstract
La terminologie constitue un instrument essentiel de structuration, d’organisation et de transmission des savoirs scientifiques, techniques et professionnels. Par la clarification des notions, la normalisation des dénominations et la cohérence des réseaux conceptuels, elle garantit la précision et la transparence nécessaires à toute communication spécialisée. Dans un contexte marqué par l’accélération des échanges informationnels, la numérisation des pratiques langagières et l’essor des technologies de traduction automatique, son rôle connaît aujourd’hui de profondes reconfigurations. Cet article analyse la fonction de la terminologie comme vecteur de transfert des connaissances selon deux perspectives complémentaires : d’une part, une approche diachronique, centrée sur les modèles méthodologiques élaborés à partir du XVIII e siècle; d’autre part, un examen des enjeux contemporains liés à la traduction spécialisée, aux ressources terminologiques et à la formation professionnelle. À partir d’exemples historiques et actuels, l’étude met en évidence la continuité des principes fondateurs de la communication spécialisée et les transformations contemporaines qui appellent une compétence terminologique renouvelée, ancrée dans les contextes culturels et professionnels.
